अंकल मैं बहुत बड़े बड़े सपने देखता हूं लेकिन उसको पूरा करने का मन नहीं करता।

:- quotes Manny aka Sushant Singh Rajput.

Sushant seems to be the lone warrior of this film. He is par excellence, pulling such a character with so much of ease is definitely not an easy task to perform. My most favourite part was the teary eyed tribute to Manny. I felt so hard to detach from that sequence. Subconsciously he was playing in my mind constantly even when he was not in the frame. The charismatic smile, the innocence, that twick of his lips when he tries to control the tears. Seriously you are an extraordinary actor. But for a second if we keep Sushant a side the movie seems to he pretty mediocre. The writing of this film is the main problem for me, it’s lacks depth and most importantly it fails to hit the right emotional note at the right time. I guess the makers of the film have hurried a lot, atleast some space should have been given to the actors. One of the most significant scene which is the physical relationship between both the actors from the original film is missing. Secondly and most importantly it does not allow much of a freedom to the characters for which it lacks with that layering part. I guess when a film is an official adaptation of such a cult film, then at least make sure you know that what does the film speaks of? Is it the same as the the original one. In the original film or the novel, it raises the questions about death, life and love in a philosophical texture. It constantly forces you to think about the characters dealing with the inevitable forces throughout the film. It’s their journey that is portrayed on the celluloid. Here in this film they’re trying compensate and compromise the narrative by the background scores. It feels very bollywood type and at times feels over the top. Unfortunately it lacks with that essence the original film had.Subsequently I don’t understand how could a casting director underutilise actors like Swastika Mukherjee and Saswata Chatterjee who have so much of potential to prove themselves as a dignified actor. How come man I seriously couldn’t figure it out. Sanjana Sanghvi have tried her level best but to match up with Shailene Woodley’s performance you seriously need to raise your bar. I am not comparing both of them but still playing such a character which is multi dimensional needs a certain degree of maturity.
I just want to conclude by saying that if it wouldn’t have been an adaptation I would have liked it, but still you have to watch this only because of Sushant and the music. The song Mein Tumhara is incomplete but still it gives you goosebumps and fills your soul with utmost warmth and grace. The film is about Sushant and the life he lived. Lived because that’s the reality and it hurts more than a fiction.

Thank You
