MARE of EAST TOWN SERIES REVIEW:- Phenomenal show! The best so far this year

Rarely do I review a series before binge-watching all the episodes of it, because I believe that especially in a series everything flows down well until the last episode arrives. In the last episode, the quality of the series can deteriorate, it can drag on to the next season, or it may disappoint me.

So therefore it was a long wait for me, after 7 weeks, I was eagerly anticipating Episode 7 of this amazing drama series named Mare in East town, which has only become better and more exciting with each episode. With the possible exception of her Oscar-winning performance as Hanna Schmitz in “The Reader” in 2009, this is, in my opinion, the best portrayal of a character that Kate Winslet has brought to life on screen. Mare Sheehan is a detective in a small Pennsylvania town who is investigating a local murder, which quickly leads to Pandora’s box which is filled with some other crimes of women who have also vanished from the town.

Of course, the Crimes and their circumstances are important to the series. It adds a layer of mystery and intrigue, but it was Mare’s character that I found most intriguing. Detective Mare Sheehan played by the extraordinary (Kate Winslet) is a puzzle; she’s tough and won’t put up with fools, but she can glam up for a hot date. When she captures the interest of author Richard Ryan (Guy Pearce), her drab professional attire and indifferent demeanor melted my heart for sure.

Mare has an excellent reason to be silently antagonistic to the world she lives in, she is a divorce, a son who committed suicide, and an ex-heroin addict daughter-in-law suing for custody of Mare’s grandson. Mare Sheehan has a wonderfully crafted soul hidden behind her austere exterior. She has an emotional sorrow, which you can’t help but can admire.

“Mare of East town” is one of those rare television programs where each episode maintains your attention and has a cliffhanger or a change of suspect that keeps you hooked more until the unexpected happens. Directed by Craig Zobel, written and created by Brad Ingelsby Mare of East town is a series I’m going to watch again in one long session, because the 7-week installment left a long a gap between the episodes, and this series deserves a second look for knotting up the forgotten plot twists as it moves at a very fast pace.
