Sharmaji Namkeen Movie Review: — Honest attempt but lacks the salt and punch

Mr. Rishi Kapoor deserves credit for delivering an all-out seamless performance. In every scenario in which he appears, he raises the stakes. It would have been tough for Mr. Paresh Rawal to match Rishiji’s magnetism, but he gave it his all.

In terms of the narrative and general storyline, I believe the creators got lost, most likely owing to Rishiji’s untimely death.

What could have been an interesting film about how age is irrelevant when it comes to pursuing one’s passion and being happy is relegated to how family members stifle anything that does not conform to societal norms, and how the younger generation is clueless about their own future or decisions, and that only parents know best and can resolve any and all issues. The introductory sequence’s mention of Baghban offers the spectator a hint as to what to expect.

Because this is Rishi Kapoor’s final film, it was always going to be difficult to see. Paresh Rawal came in to finish the film in one of the rarest of rare instances. The shift from one to the other is flawless!

B K Sharma is forced to retire early and is fed up with staying at home doing nothing in Sharmaji Namkeen. He began cooking for a group of ladies during their cat parties, to his son’s chagrin. This generates a schism between the father and the son.

It was always going to be difficult to see this film. Rishi Kapoor, also known as Chintuji, had an unmistakable charisma. He’s in fine form here, as is Paresh Rawal, who smoothly steps into Kapoor’s shoes. Juhi Chawla, Satish Kaushik, Isha Talwar, Sheeba Chadha, Suhail Nayyar, Ayesha Raza, and Parmeet Sethi make up the supporting cast.

Sharmaji Namkeen is a heartwarming film that provides pure enjoyment while also teaching valuable lessons about the significance of family. It’s a rather conventional narrative with no surprises, but it’s Rishi Kapoor who elevates it to a worthwhile viewing experience.

Rishi Kapoor, you will be missed! Sharmaji Namkeen is the perfect swan song for a legend of his caliber!

Sharmaji Namkeen is not streaming on Amazon Prime Video
